活动简介

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, our Sponsors and the Grapevine Community, it is a great pleasure to invite you to attend the Tenth International Symposium on Grapevine Physiology and Biotechnology (10GPB) which will be held in Verona, Italy on 13th-18th June, 2016.

The 10GPB will cover the most recent developments in grapevine research from around the world, across the range of all disciplines related to grapevine. The scope of the conference will include plant physiology and development, environmental and pathogen interactions, genomics, metabolomics and fruit quality, amongst many other fields.

The 10GPB Symposium will be organized by the University of Verona. Today this University includes 15 Departments which operate in different fields and host about 23,000 students.

Wine grape cultivation in the Verona province dates back 2000 years to Roman times. Verona is home to the regal Amarone red wine, and is surrounded by the principle wine regions Valpolicella, Soave, Bardolino and Custoza. Verona is located in the beautiful Region of Veneto, one of the foremost wine-producing regions in Italy, exporting internationally on a large scale from over 20 Controlled Denomination of Origin zones including Prosecco.

Verona is one of the most visited cities in Italy. It is home to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, it is famous for its Roman ruins and the beautiful Roman Arena, which hosts an international standard Opera Season every year in summer. Verona and its outskirts are blessed by beauty: rolling hills with endless vineyards, orchards, fields, rivers and canals, all interspersed between ancient and modern towns, towers, bridges, forts, churches and ruins. Visiting possibilities are endless! You can have the opportunity to be exposed first-hand to modern and traditional viticulture, local grape varieties, typical wine-making and let’s not forget, the wine-tasting! In proximity to Verona, within the Veneto Region, there are other cities of international importance: Padua, home to one of the earliest universities in the world and also home to the beautiful Scrovegni Chapel, which contains Giotto’s finest cycle of frescoes. Then there is Venice, the jewel of Italy and now a World Heritage Site in its entirety, renowned for the beauty of its setting, its architecture and its artworks. Nearby Verona, there is the stunning Garda Lake and the beautiful Italian Alps, which are snowcapped all winter and a popular year-round destination for skiing, trekking, rock-climbing, paragliding and mountain bike enthusiasts.

Please save this link to the Symposium website (www.grapevine2016.org). As we gather more information regarding the Symposium - important dates, registration, abstract submission and other logistics - we will be constantly updating this website.

We look forward to seeing you here in June 2016 for an enlightening and rewarding conference in our beautiful city!
