On behalf of the organizing committee of the 3rd Asian Clay Conference (ACC-2016), we are delighted to invite you to participate in this important scientific event in Guangzhou China from November 18 to 20, 2016. This conference is brought to you by Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. We would like to express our thanks to co-organizers including Southwest University of Science and Technology, Chinese Society for Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry, and National Natural Science Foundation of China.
ACC-2016 will be an ideal forum to exhibit recent advances in basic and applied researches on clay and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. The conference will also give you the unique opportunity to visit Guangzhou which is one of the most vibrant cities in China.
Clay minerals represent the youngest members of the family of minerals in the earth’s crust, and have been utilized by humans since ancient time. With the development of experimental characterization techniques and computer simulation methods, the knowledge of structure, physico-chemical properties of clay minerals has increased significantly in recent years. The applications of clay minerals in environmental protection and remediation, producing functional materials and medicines are developing rapidly. The genesis and transformation of clay minerals, geochemical processes and biochemical interactions concerning clay minerals draw interests of geologists, chemists and biologists. The ACC-2016 will feature plenary, keynote and invited talks as well as poster presentations enabling the delegates to present their significant works.
