Recent natural and man-made disasters made urgent to understand the dependency of our society from infrastructures that, if disrupted or destroyed, would seriously compromise quality of life and overall functioning of society. Therefore, Critical Infrastructure (CI) protection has become a general label for a range of activities undertaken jointly by government and operators of key facilities and systems to ensure an adequate risk management, becoming one of most important issues for the EU community. CI systems are characterized by a high degree of interconnection. Therefore, proper data communication between dependent physical, virtual and logical elements within them is paramount. Exploring techniques to make data communication in CI possible, effective, reliable, efficient and resilient is the purpose of this special session.
DCCI 2017 will discuss, among others, the following aspects and topics of such critacl infrastructures data communication processes, which have distinct relationships with DCNET main conference topics:
Risk/resilience based decision-making
Threat identification/assessment/monitoring models/techniques
Advanced data communication concepts/ICTs in complex networks
CI protection against cyber-threats
Data communication of physical surveillance sensor data
Interdependency analysis of CI
Design of reliable CI communication infrastructures
Emerging & Future Threats Detection and Management
